Itinerary:

For our summer wrap up and send off, we head to Italy's Puglia region located at the 'boot' of Italy. I've been dying to visit Italy since travel opened up and Puglia was exactly what we were looking for - an easy, short, 5 day adventure without driving, plenty of sun (it was early Oct) and wine and good food. We flew into Bari (short 2.5 hr flight time) and made our way via train across the region (shout out to the Trenit! app - massive help with timetables and planning our journey schedules).
Day 1
Visit:
Polignano a Mare ** (quick train ride links Bari - ~40 mins - Polignano A Mare - ~5 mins - Monopoli)
Eat:
Osteria dei Mulini
Aquamarea * (sunset drinks)
Stay:
Masseria Torrepietra* - beautiful property but a bit of a walk from Monopoli train station (with a section of road without a pavement/ street lighting). 20 euro hotel taxi can be arranged between Polignano A Mare and Masseria Torrepietra (best option as we couldn't get/find a taxi at Monopoli's train station)
Really gutted we missed the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series at Polignano by a week!!!
Day 2
Visit:
Ostuni* (2o mins train from Monopoli, and then a taxi or a bus)
Monopoli**
Eat:
Be sure to try 1) Burrata (yes, Puglia is OG Burrata region) 2) Orecchiette con cime di rapa - another regional dish 3) Stracciatella di bufala (my new favourite cheese, yes it is better than Burrata)
Day 3
Visit:
Alberobello (train from
Day 4
Visit:
Matera (train from
Day 5
Visit:
Bari (Explored
